MARIPOSA COUNTY — The Ben Fire, burning in the Mormon Bar area of Mariposa County, is now estimated at 800 acres, still with 0 percent containment, according the the latest report from Cal Fire.
There are currently 33 engines, 6 crews, 4 water tenders and 8 bulldozers assigned to the incident. Air Attack, three helicopters and two air tankers are scheduled to be overhead at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
The Ben Fire was reported just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, near 3081 Ben Hur Road.
No structures are threatened at this time, according to Cal Fire, and no evacuations have been ordered.
The fire is burning in grass and oak woodland.
There are road closures at Silver Bar and Ashworth, and Ben Hur and Lower Silver Bar, according to Cal Fire.
PCFs from five companies have been called up to man their engines to cover stations not staffed due to the call-out to the Ben Fire.
