Update On Carstens Fire North Of Mariposa

MARIPOSA – Update – On Sunday, June 16, at 11:30 p.m., the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order due to the unpredictability of the Carstens Fire.

Cal Fire has initiated the evacuation order for the residents on the northeast side of Triangle Road between Highway 140, extending to Darrah Road.

Earlier in the day, at 7:50 p.m., Cal Fire initiated an evacuation order for residents living on Hites Cove Road, Mariposa Pines and Jerseydale area.Road closures have been put in place at Carter, Jerseydale and Buckingham Mountain Road to all eastbound traffic.

An evacuation center has been established at the Mariposa Elementary School at located at 5044 Jones Street in Mariposa. The Mariposa County Fairgrounds Animal Shelter for animals and livestock has also been opened.
