Update On Ben Fire In Mariposa County Thursday 8 AM

MARIPOSA COUNTY — Cal Fire has made a correction to the estimated acreage of the Ben Fire, burning near Ben Hur Road and Buckeye in Mariposa County.

The fire is now reported at about 400 acres with 10 percent containment.

There are currently 33 engines, 6 crews, 4 dozers, 4 water tenders, 3 air tanker and 3 helicopters assigned to the incident.

Cal Fire, Mariposa County Fire, Mariposa County Sheriff, PG&E and CHP are the cooperating agencies.

There are road closures at Ben Hur and Buckeye, and at Ben Hur and the entrance to the Quick Ranch, according to Cal Fire.

An Incident Command Post has been set up at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

The Ben Fire was reported just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, near 3081 Ben Hur Road.

No structures are threatened at this time, and no evacuations have been ordered.

The fire is burning in grass and oak woodland.

PCFs from five companies have been called up to man their engines to cover stations not staffed due to the call-out to the Ben Fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
