Two-Vehicle Crash Blocks Highway 41

COARSEGOLD – A attempt to make a left-hand turn off Highway 41 in Coarsegold this afternoon resulted in a two-car crash that blocked the roadway as the scene was cleared.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, a Coarsegold woman driving a Toyota Highlander was northbound on Highway 41, turning left onto Road 415.

A Ford F-250, driven by another Coarsegold resident, was southbound when the Highlander turned directly into his path, according to CHP.

The crash blocked the intersection, and CHP was able to push the Ford truck out of the roadway, but the Highlander had to wait for the arrival of a tow truck. This blocked the southbound lane until the tow truck, which got stuck in the backup of traffic, could get to the scene and move it out of the roadway.

Any detour for southbound drivers who didn’t want to wait was complicated by the fact that an overturned asphalt truck was blocking Road 415 at Sesame Street.

There were two small children in the Highlander, but they were properly restrained and were checked out by Sierra Ambulance personnel at the scene. Both drivers were uninjured, save some complaints of minor pain, and no one required transport for medical treatment.
