OAKHURST – An Oakhurst woman was transported to a Valley hospital after her SUV was struck by another vehicle on Road 426 this morning.
At 11:45 a.m., just as officers were clearing the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Deadwood (Highway 41 south of Oakhurst), reports came in of another accident, this one on Road 426.
According to CHP at the scene, a 27-year-old North Fork woman was westbound on her way to work in Oakhurst in a Honda Civic at a stated speed of 35 to 40 mph, when she rounded a tight corner at Courtney Lane and began to slide on the wet pavement.
The Honda slid over the double yellow lines and into the path of an eastbound 2016 Subaru Outback, driven by a 71-year-old woman from Oakhurst.
The Honda slammed into the Subaru and the force of the impact caused the SUV to overturn, coming to rest on its wheels on the south side of the road with a broken rear axle.
The driver of the Honda called friends for assistance and they were able to move the sedan out of the roadway while waiting for CHP and tow trucks to arrive.
Sierra Ambulance personnel checked out both involved parties and the driver of the Subaru was transported to St. Agnes with complaints of pain. The driver of the Honda was not injured.
CHP says the driver of the Honda was likely driving too fast for conditions. The accident remains under investigation.
