Two Fremont Healthcare Staff Members Test Positive For COVID-19

MARIPOSA — Two John C. Fremont Healthcare District’s staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Our Infection Control department has conducted contact tracing with support from the Mariposa County Health & Human Services Agency. Staff members identified as close contacts have been placed into quarantine.

All staff, including the COVID-19 confirmed staff member, have worn face masks, performed hand hygiene and adhered to social distancing while in direct patient care areas since the pandemic began. In addition to face masks, the use of face shields has been required in patient care areas since July 20th further reducing the risk of transmission.

Risk of exposure to patients is considered low at this time. The investigation determined that no patients that may have come into contact with the cases require quarantine.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms – fever or chills, cough, congestion, shortness of breath, malaise, fatigue, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache or diarrhea — contact our clinic at 209-966-3631 and if you have an urgent medical need, call our Emergency Room at 209-966-3631 to advise staff of your arrival and symptoms.

“I want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to keep you safe and healthy in these unprecedented times. We’re also making sure the doctors, nurses and other essential staff have the supplies and support they need to care for you and go home to their families. And if you have an emergency, don’t delay. We’re here for that too. We are ready, safe and open for you.” said Tom Wilkinson, Chief Nursing Officer and COVID-19 Commander.

John C. Fremont Hospital would like to remind everyone to practice social distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands regularly and follow the guidelines of the Mariposa County Health Officer.
