Two Deputies Sworn In, Three Promotions At Sheriff’s Office

MADERA COUNTY — Sheriff Jay Varney is pleased to announce the promotion of three Sheriff’s Office employees and the swearing in of two new deputy sheriffs.

Joseph Wilder was promoted to Sergeant. He has been with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office since April of 2004, and had also been an Explorer with the Sheriff’s Office from 1997 until 2004.

Rainbow Ausburn was promoted to a Senior Program Assistant. She will be the Lead Records Clerk in absence of a Records Supervisor. She has been with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office since December of 2006.

Robert Blehm was promoted to sergeant. He has been with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office since November of 2011. Prior to this Robert worked for the California Department of Justice and the Madera Police Department.

Samnang “Sam” Thach was sworn in as a deputy sheriff and has worked in law enforcement in the Central Valley since 2011.

Bradford Funk was sworn in as a deputy sheriff pending his joining the Sheriff’s Office later this month. He has worked in law enforcement in the Central Valley since 2007.

“It is always exciting to be a part of the career advancement and choices of hard working public safety employees,” said Sheriff Varney. “These are the first promotional opportunities I have been able to fill as Sheriff of Madera County, so they are particularly meaningful.”
