NORTH FORK — On January 21, 2023, around 8 p.m., the Madera County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call for service regarding some type of verbal disturbance. While on the line with the reporting party, dispatchers heard what they believed to be the sound of a gun shot.
Shortly after, MCSO Deputies arrived at a residence in the 33000 block of Peckinpah Acres Drive in North Fork where the call originated from. Deputies contacted Keanu Alfieri and Chance Moody, but were unable to locate a victim at that location.
Nearby, in a wooded area surrounding the property, deputies made contact with an adult male suffering from non-life threatening gun shot wounds. The victim was evaluated and transported via life flight to a regional medical facility for treatment.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Investigations Unit responded to the residence to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. After processing the scene and taking statements, Keanu Alfieri (30, North Fork) was arrested for Attempted Murder and Chance Moody (44, Oakhurst) was arrested for Accessory.
Both subjects were transported and booked into the Madera County Jail without incident.
Sheriff Tyson Pogue comments, “I applaud the diligent work of our entire team during the course of this incident. The quick actions of our dispatchers allowed deputies to arrive quickly on scene, which facilitated a prompt investigation supported by detectives. I thank each of them for their dedication as they worked through the night to bring a resolution to this case.”
