Two Arrested After Shooting At Home In YLP

YOSEMITE LAKES PARK – Late Thursday night, deputies were dispatched to the 42000 block of Holiday Way in Yosemite Lakes Park for a report of gunshots being heard in the area.

As the deputies were responding, Sheriff’s Dispatch received several more calls from residents who reported hearing shots being fired.

A house in the 30000 block of Stetson Drive was struck by bullets. The front window was shattered and a vehicle in the driveway was also struck by several bullets, according to the Sheriff’s Office. There were two people inside the residence at the time; fortunately they were not struck by the gunfire.

A witness reported that a white pickup with a camper shell was seen leaving the area at about the same time the shots were fired.

After even more reports of shots being fired in that same area, deputies located a house on Stetson Drive and heard shots being fired from the garage area. They also found a white pickup with a camper shell parked in the driveway.

Deputies saw two males firing a handgun and a shotgun out of the garage, and the two suspects, who appeared to be intoxicated, were taken into custody without incident.

Nicholas Johnson, 19, and a 16-year-old male juvenile were arrested for shooting at an inhabited dwelling and negligent discharge of a firearm. Johnson is currently being held in the Madera County Department of Corrections on a $100,000 bond.
