Two Area B&Bs Earn Customer Service Recognition

OAKHURST – A Haven of Rest Bed and Breakfast in Oakhurst and Yosemite’s Sierra Mountain Lodge in Ahwahnee received word from Trip Advisor recently that they had earned the Certificate of Excellence award.

The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Only the top-performing 10 percent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

“To think, that our small B&B placed in the top-performing 10% of all businesses worldwide on TripAdvisor. Wow, there really are not words to explain how happy this made us,” said Jody Telegan, owner of A Haven of Rest.

Brenda Eppler, proprietor of Yosemite’s Sierra Mountain Lodge, said she too was excited and happy to know their customers appreciate their dedication.

“We’re happy to see that our customers recognize our commitment to customer service and it paid off.”

Eppler said she doesn’t know specifically what sets her property apart from others, but instead sets her sights on treating her guests the right way.

“We don’t know about any other property, but we just truly focus on the customer. We run the businesses and treat our guests the way we would want to be treated at an inn. It’s the Golden Rule, and we try to live by that,” she said.

Telegan said her and her husband Mike constantly aim to improve upon their own standards, and that’s why sets them apart.

“The word service means a lot to us. After receiving the ‘Bedandbreakfast.com Best in the West award in 2010,’ Mike and I decided never to be any less, but to always compete against ourselves and to always treat each guest as if they were our first. It was very exciting when that first guest arrived, so we constantly ask ourselves and our guests how we can improve.”

A Haven of Rest is located 15 minutes south of Yosemite National Park. The traditional-style wood frame home is located against a fruit orchard, along with a few well-placed large pines and live oaks with a backdrop of the Sierra mountains at 2,400 feet.

Yosemite’s Sierra Mountain Lodge offers spacious one and two bedroom suites with vaulted ceilings and large open wood beams. Each suite includes private entries, quality king and queen beds, fine linens, private bathrooms, living quarters and kitchenettes. They also offer a private split log Cabin House perfect for families and friends traveling together who want that Yosemite Cabin experience and the luxury of a Bed and Breakfast.
