Tree Mortality Project in the Mountains

Message from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services:

Mountain Communities – The Madera County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services, in partnership with Madera County Public Works Road Department, will continue tree mortality project work.

1/5/22- Tree crews will continue work along Road 222, in the Bass Lake Annex area. Upon completion, they will move to Road 221.

1/4/22- Tree crews will start on Road 222 and work up to Bass Lake Annex, on Road 222.

1/3/22- Beginning on Monday, January 3rd, 2022 around 8:00 am, tree crews will start working on Road 222, above the pizza parlor, heading towards Bass Lake.

Some county roads will be subject to short-term closures while crews fall trees into the roadway. None of the closures will last longer than 15 minutes. Work is expected to continue in the North Fork, Bass Lake, and Cedar Valley areas through the end of January.

Please drive with caution within these work zones and allow for plenty of time to arrive at your destination. The Sheriff’s Office will have a Deputy Sheriff in the area to assist motorists and minimize any traffic impacts.
