Train Now To Volunteer At A Red Cross Shelter

OAKHURST – Remember last summer when the devastating Detwiler Fire hit, and you were wondering what you could do to help? Now is the time to register for the Red Cross Shelter Boot Camp, right here in the mountains.

Red Cross volunteers put compassion into action every day, and your help is needed to man the Red Cross shelters when disaster strikes. The Shelter Boot Camp is your chance to be part of the world’s largest humanitarian organization, right here in your community.

This multi-day offering of courses is designed to build capacity for this coming fire season in our local Red Cross territory (Madera, Mariposa, and Merced Counties).

If you are wanting to join this amazing team and help your neighbors during a disaster then please sign up! You will need to complete a background check to graduate as a future Red Cross shelter worker.

If you are already a long-term volunteer, the boot camp provides an opportunity to brush up on your skills and make new friends!

The course will be held at Sierra Vista Presbyterian, 39696 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
