Tragic Accident In North Fork

Tragic accident in North Fork takes the life of an 80-year-old man.

NORTH FORK – March 14, 2022, at approximately 12:21 p.m., the Merced Communications Center (MCC) received a call of a male with no pulse trapped under a vehicle in the 30000 block of Wyle Ranch Way in North Fork, California.

Oakhurst Area Units, Officer J. Buttgereit, Officer K. McPhail, and Sergeant C. Wynveen, responded to the address. Upon arrival, the officers learned the following:

At approximately 11:20 a.m., the 80-year-old white male resident of the Wyle Ranch Way address walked out of his house to load the bed of his green 1996 Dodge Ram pick-up truck with trash. The pick-up was parked in his driveway facing uphill.

Approximately one hour later, the adult male’s wife went outside to check on him since he had not returned. She found her husband unconscious lying on his left side with his left leg pinned under the left front tire of the pick-up truck still in the drive-way with the driver’s door open. The engine was running but not in the “park” gear position.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup truck possibly rolled backwards into the adult male, causing him to fall to the ground, and the pickup truck ran over him.

Madera County Deputy/Coroner, Deputy S. Vind (Case #22-1450) pronounced the adult male deceased at approximately 12:35 p.m.
