Tractor Supply Co. To Open New Store In Oakhurst

OAKHURST — Popular farm and ranch retailer Tractor Supply Co. is coming to town.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed the news Friday.

“We will be opening a new store in Oakhurst in 2020,” said Niki Giacchina. “Unfortunately, that’s about all I can tell you right now.”

Local sources confirmed this week that the national retailer is in escrow on a building site off Highway 49 directly across from the California Highway Patrol substation.

TSC reportedly has been working on putting the deal together for more than a year. The company was considering two potential locations in Oakhurst and cancelled escrow on the alternative site earlier this week.

The Highway 49 parcel the company selected is owned by Gary Brown and already approved for commercial development.

Brentwood, Tennessee-based Tractor Supply sells a wide variety of home improvement, agriculture, lawn and garden, clothing, livestock and pet care products, and currently operates nearly 1,800 stores in 49 states.

Tractor Supply stores are typically about 20,000 square feet, and include a large outdoor sales area.

The company has locations in Clovis, Fresno and Madera and is “expanding pretty rapidly” throughout California, according to Giacchina, who says the Oakhurst store will bring about 15 new jobs to the area.

Tractor Supply owns and operates all of its stores. The company typically comes into new areas with “shovel-ready” plans and is expected to break ground later this summer.
