Town Hall Meeting Features Public Safety Tax Presentation

AHWAHNEE — District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler will host the next in his series of Town Hall meetings this Thursday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wasuma Elementary School gymnasium.

Of great interest to taxpayers will be an educational presentation by Georgiena Vivian of VRPA Technologies on the proposed public safety sales tax to fund the Madera County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office.

Representatives from Cal Fire and Madera County Fire will be on hand to speak to the challenges of the fire service and answer questions from the public.

Also on the agenda is a presentation by Bass Lake District Ranger Denise Tolmie, and by Ann Melrose, board member for the Coarsegold Resource Conservation District.

Craig Hinch, new Commander at the Oakhurst CHP Office will also speak to the crowd, along with Heather Heinks of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.

There will be time at the end of the presentations for questions and answers from the public on issues of concern to County residents.

In the past, these meetings have been held in the cafeteria, but this time everyone will be meeting in their new gymnasium.

The Wasuma Elementary School is located at 43109 Highway 49 in Ahwahnee.
