Tom Bopp Talks Roosevelt And Muir In Yosemite

MARIPOSA — If you’re looking for a mix of entertainment and education this weekend, stop by the Mariposa Museum and History Center for a Fireside Chat with musician and historian Tom Bopp.

Tom Bopp has entertained and educated Yosemite’s guests at the Wawona Hotel and The Ahwahnee since 1983. His interest in Yosemite’s cultural history led him to develop interpretive events for the Yosemite National Park Centennial in 1990, the Camp Curry Centennial in 1999, The Ahwahnee 75th Anniversary (2002), Yosemite Heritage Holidays (2003-2009), regular programs on Wawona history, Yosemite music and culture, a film documentary called Vintage Songs of Yosemite, and Theodore Roosevelt and John Muir’s 1903 trip to Yosemite.

The latter is the subject of the Fireside Chat as Tom enthusiastically shares stories of the famous camping trip. The presentation takes place on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 2 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

The museum is located at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa.
