MADERA COUNTY – If you’ve ever been asked where you got all that junk and your barn doors are bulging out from all the old dusty, rusty stuff you’ve collected in there, your day is about to come.
That’s right: it’s time to get picked.
If you and what they call your “rusty gold” qualify, you could be visited by Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz who appear on the popular History Channel show American Pickers. These boys say they are on a mission to recycle America, and they’re apparently willing to visit the foothills to prove it.
The Madera County Film Commission says American Pickers Mike and Frank are hoping to hear from anyone who has any items, a collection, or junk they want to sell.
The two men make a living by restoring forgotten relics to their former glory, and starring in a television show “transforming one person’s trash into another’s treasure.” Soon, if they get the right response, they’ll comb the foothills for hidden gems in junkyards, basements, garages, barns, storage sheds, and outbuildings, “meeting quirky characters and hearing their amazing stories.“
To be considered for the show, it’s required that you email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name, contact number, description of your items and detailed photos of your items. “The more, the better,” say producers.
American Pickers has a policy that no retail shops or flea markets be considered. “After all,” they say, “Mike and Frank are modern day archeologists.”
