Three-Car Crash Claims Three Lives, Motorcyclist Dies In Separate Accident

MADERA COUNTY — Highway 145 was closed for three hours this evening between Highway 41 and Road 38 due to a major accident, resulting in three fatalities.

At 7:48 p.m., reports came in of a three-vehicle accident with people pinned inside their cars on Highway 145 near Road 208.

According to CHP, one eastbound car drifted into oncoming traffic and clipped a pickup, then hit the car behind the pickup head-on. The vehicles involved include a red Honda Accord, a silver Honda Civic and a silver GMC pickup.

Three people died in the crash. A fourth individual was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The accident is still under investigation.

Eastbound traffic was diverted at Road 38, and westbound was being stopped at Highway 41.

As of 10:50 p.m., lanes were open in both directions.

Earlier today, a man was killed in an accident when the motorcycle he was driving eastbound on Avenue 15 was hit by a car southbound on Highway 41. The motorcyclist died at the scene, according to CHP.
