COARSEGOLD – An accident on Highway 41 today just south of Coarsegold, blocked traffic during the busiest part of the day, and slowed things down for about an hour.
All three vehicles involved were driven by Coarsegold residents, and all three were transporting children, according to the CHP.
Just after 5 p.m. on Friday, May 17, Holli Mills, 32, was southbound on Highway 41 in a Toyota Camry. She was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Comstock Drive.
A 2001 Honda Odyssey van, driven by Mary Andes, 48, was southbound behind the Toyota, and crashed into the right rear of Mills’s car.
The third car, a 2001 Mitsubishi driven by Robert Woolsey, 19, was also southbound just behind the van. He was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident unfolding ahead of him, and collided with the Honda Odyssey.
Madera County Fire Department Engine #8 and Engine #13, both out of Coarsegold, responded to the scene along with the CHP.
Sierra Ambulance EMTs evaluated several of those involved in the accident, but no one was transported.
