OAKHURST – Visit Yosemite Madera County is pleased to announce the addition of Therese Williams to their team as the new director of public relations and sales.
Therese was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, but it was the bright lights of New York City that caught her attention to study for her master’s in international communications and public relations. It was in New York City where she kicked off her successful career over 15 years ago on Madison Avenue.
Therese has developed and managed public relations and social media campaigns for exciting destinations such as New York City; Cambria; and Sydney, Australia. Other industries she has managed include higher education, healthcare, finance and entertainment both nationally and worldwide.
A natural at media relations, her campaign successes include reaching the nation’s top tier media such as Good Morning America and Weekend Today Show live broadcasts, international CNN feeds and profiles in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Huffington Post L.A. Times and the New York Times.
“I am very pleased to accept this position at Visit Yosemite Madera County,” says Therese. “I am confident that I will help further the goal of Visit Yosemite Madera County’s mission and continue to provide the highest level of public relations services to all of our visitors and partners locally and across the state. I love to put the ‘elation’ in ‘public relations.’”
After a brief period living back in Australia, the U.S. called her back yet again, this time to a fairy tale ending where she ended up meeting her husband flying from Sydney to San Francisco in 2011.
When Therese is not working, you can usually find her out hiking, back packing, running, and cycling in Bass Lake, Ansell Adams, Yosemite and Mariposa with her husband Paul and their dog Zorro.
“It is with great pleasure and excitement we welcome Therese Williams to the Visit Yosemite Madera County team as director of public relations and sales,” says Rhonda Salisbury, Visit Yosemite Madera County CEO. “Therese is coming to us with over 15 years of national and global strategic public relations and media experience. I look forward to all our partners and visitors meeting her.”

Recently the visitor’s bureau changed its name to Visit Yosemite Madera County to more accurately reflect its mission to promote all there is to see and do in Yosemite and Madera County.
