The Outsiders Onstage at YHS

YHS Seniors Jay Mierkey and Jack Dindia are Johnny and Ponyboy in THE OUTSIDERS.

OAKHURST — Yosemite High School presents a stage version of the young adult novel THE OUTSIDERS Nov. 18-20 at 7 p.m. in the YHS theatre. Based on the iconic S.E. Hinton novel, THE OUTSIDERS follows Ponyboy, a sensitive young man living in a complex world where Greasers and Socs battle for superiority. Set in Tulsa in 1965, THE OUTSIDERS is a dramatic story about life, death and the importance of appreciating sunsets.

THE OUTSIDERS features 18 performers from YHS’s Advanced Theatre Arts class. Jack Dindia, YHS senior, plays Ponyboy and said, “It’s cool to do a play based on a book I read in 8th grade. It’s pretty dramatic, but fun too.” YHS Theater Arts teacher Lars Thorson adds, “Having taught the novel a few times, I’ve always wanted to direct the stage version. It’s been a fun experience, and I hope people will come and see it.”

Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. For more information please call 559-683-4667, ext. 1256.
