OAKHURST — From Do-Re-Mi to Edelweiss, songs in the classic 1965 film The Sound of Music still resonate in many hearts, and children around the world continue to learn the Rogers and Hammerstein songs anew each generation. If these are a few of your favorite things, you’ll be tickled to know that the Golden Chain Theatre is holding a sing along weekend with The Sound of Music as the centerpiece.
The sing alongs take place on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, July 29, there’s a 2 p.m. matinee. Doors open 30 minutes before the show starts. Snacks will be available for purchase.
“Here is your chance to test your vocal range with several hundred other assorted nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes,” says playhouse promotion.
“The evening begins with a live show in which your host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award the prizes. Costumes are not compulsory, but they are highly recommended, and you will be amazed at the inventiveness on display. The host will then show you how to use your free interactive prop bag throughout the film and you will have a fun-filled evening you’re not soon to forget!”
