Teenager Crashes Right In Front Of Ambulance

COARSEGOLD – If one is going to crash their car, having an ambulance right behind you when it happens is not a bad thing.

When Sarah White, 19, of Coarsegold, took her eyes off the road and landed upside down off the embankment, there was help just a few feet away.

Sierra Ambulance and Engine 8

Paramedic Rudesil, driving a Sierra Ambulance, was headed north on Highway 41 just north of the YLP turnoff. He was right behind White’s Volkswagen Jetta when it left the roadway, flipped over and caught fire.

Rudesil made sure White was okay – and amazingly she escaped with only minor bumps and bruises – and then put out the fire and waited with her for Coarsegold Engine #8 and the CHP to arrive.

The accident happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, and the road was closed briefly while the car was hoisted up onto the roadway and towed away.

The Volkswagon appeared to be a total loss, but the driver was okay, and had professional assistance at hand immediately.
