Surprises Await On Holiday Home Tour

OAKHURST – Mountain Community Women (MCW) are holding their long-awaited MCW Holiday Home Tour fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 14, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The ladies of MCW will have a warm and delicious lunch available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center.

The suggested donation for the day of food, friends, fun and festive decorations is $17 per ticket, lunch included.

Tickets are available at Kraft and Lee Insurance Agency in the Raley’s shopping center. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Oakhurst Community Center. Organizers request adults only on tour; children are not permitted. Tickets are also available from one of three event co-chairs, Jill Hufford, who explains how the fundraiser works.

“Purchase a ticket and inside is the addresses and information of different locations,” says the five-year MCW member. “Then, like the art tour, you go to different homes usually decorated for Christmas and show them your ticket and view their home.”

This is a self guided tour, and Jill says people often get a group together, carpooling and meeting up with others for lunch mid-way through the tour, earlier or later, depending on what stop is most convenient for the guest.

The beautiful homes range from a little red caboose to an historic location and even a couple of airstream travel trailers, with other stops in between.

“The locations on our tour are all unique examples of the diversity of our mountain homes,” Jill continues. “We have Bass Lake, Coarsegold and Oakhurst homes and we so appreciate the generosity of the homeowners to contribute to a worthy cause. The entire purpose of the organization is to support and sustain the Oakhurst Community Center.”

The Oakhurst Community Center is located at 39800 Road 425B.

Working in concert with Jill to produce this event are MCW President Nancy Taylor and member Melanie Bainbridge.
