Support Victims Of Disaster On ‘Red Cross Giving Day’

Written by Chad McCollum –

FRESNO – Every eight minutes, American Red Cross volunteers meet a family devastated by a home fire or other disaster. When a family has lost nearly everything, they rely on generous Red Cross supporters for relief and hope.

On Wednesday, Mar. 27 – Red Cross Giving Day – families are counting on your support.

The need for disaster relief is constant. In fact, just in the past three years, we assisted more than 1,300 families affected by disasters both big and small in the Central Valley and mountain areas.

What’s more, we have experienced record disasters like the Ferguson and Detwiler fires, and hundreds of local volunteers from the Central Valley chapter responded to help families in not only our community, but communities across the country who have been affected by disaster.

By donating at redcross.org/givingday, you can help in the first devastating hours of a disaster:

  • Support a family in urgent need for one day: A gift of $88.50 can provide a family of three with a day’s worth of food, blankets and other essentials.
  • Supply warm meals: A donation of $60 can help provide six people with a nourishing meal.
  • Deliver cozy blankets: A gift of $30 can ensure that children and families stay warm.

This Red Cross Giving Day, our goal is to help 25,000 families affected by disaster, and we need your support. On March 27, please consider uniting with thousands of people like you by making a gift at redcross.org/givingday.

Each day, our lifesaving mission is powered by compassionate volunteers and donors. We are grateful for this commitment. On behalf of the families we serve, thank you.

Sincerely,
Chad McCollum
Board Chair
Central Valley Chapter
