Supervisor, Undersheriff Discuss Crime In The Mountains

MADERA COUNTY – District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler announces a few important events coming up in the next month.

This Tuesday, July 8, there will be a special Town Hall meeting at the Oakhurst Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m. to discuss crime in the mountains and explore solutions.

Sponsored by the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, the meeting will be hosted by Supervisor Wheeler and Undersheriff Mike Salvador. Items for discussion will be:

  • Update on recent crime incidents
  • General discussion on safety and awareness
  • Residential and business neighborhood watch programs
  • Protecting your home and business
  • General questions and answers

On Tuesday, July 15, everyone is encouraged to attend a Madera County Manufacturers Town Hall at the Hampton Inn, 3254 Airport Drive in Madera, at 11:30 a.m. Cost for lunch will be $15.

The meeting will include a discussion about the Governor’s Economic Development Initiative and explore what this means for your individual business.

Speakers include Patrick McGuire, Senior Business Development Specialist from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development; Jim Kuhl, Tax Consultant Expert from the Board of Equalization; Bobby Kahn, Executive Director of the Madera County Economic Development Council; and Jim Taubert, Executive Director of the Successor Agency to the Madera Redevelopment Agency.

Then on Thursday, July 31, Supervisor Wheeler will hold one of his Town Hall meetings in North Fork at the Rancheria Community Center, 56900 Kuhugib Road from 6 to 8 p.m. Take Road 222 up past the post office, take your first left, go to the top of the hill, and turn left into the Community Center parking lot.
