Summer Sweets: EMC SPCA Bake Sales

OAKHURST — Everyone needs a treat, right? A summer tradition continues that’s of special note to anyone with a sweet tooth and everyone who loves animals: the Eastern Madera County SPCA (EMC SPCA) will be positioned outside True Value in Oakhurst on Saturday, July 15 and 29, and August 12 and 26 with all kinds of delicious temptations designed to catch your attention and raise money for the cause.

Linda Chappell’s EMC SPCA bake sales annually bring out the best in bakers to benefit the organization. Whether you’re buying or baking, the organization appreciates the community’s help making these sales a success, they say.

“This is a great time for the EMC SPCA to network, raise money and occasionally showcase an animal needing a home,” organizers note. All baked goods sell for $1 per bag.

Anyone who wants to help out by baking is encouraged to send an email to help@emcspca.org with baking dates that work. “Cookies and brownies are best,” they say, including “things that don’t need refrigeration and don’t melt.”

Baked goods can be dropped off at The Cat’s Meow Oakhurst on the Friday before the sale, prior to 3 p.m. or at True Value the day of the sale by 9 a.m. Cookies or brownies should be bagged in small zip-style bags with two to three per bag.

If you need more information, call Linda at (559) 658-8919.
