Substitute Teacher Arrested For Sexual Relationship With Minor Student

O’NEALS — A substitute teacher in Madera County has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a Minarets High School student.

On May 7, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the superintendent of Chawanakee Unified School District (CUSD) regarding an allegation of an inappropriate relationship between a substitute teacher who had worked for the District and a student at Minarets High School.

A statement was taken from the alleged victim, and the investigation was turned over to detectives.

“After a thorough investigation, detectives uncovered evidence which revealed there was probable cause to support the allegations in the case,” according to the Sheriff’s Office, and “evidence indicates that the suspect had a relationship of a sexual nature with a minor student outside of CUSD property.”
