Strong Finish For Minarets Track And Field

O’NEALS — The Minarets Track Team raced to the finish line earlier this month at the Track and Field Event hosted at Fowler High School.

This was the last event of the season for the Mustangs and the team included freshmen Cameron Johnson, Benjamyn Bradley, Noah McLaughlin, Ariana Lusk, Kaitlynn McDonald, Alice Cummings, sophomore Nick Roland, and juniors Tate Obernolte, Vanessa Nelson. With the support of Coaches Alvarez and Regonini, these players fought hard in the event and each placed in their events:

  • Noah McLaughlin – 1st in Men’s 1600 Meter
  • Cameron Johnson – 1st in Men’s Long Jump
  • Tate Obernolte – 2nd in Men’s Long Jump
  • Nick Roland – 4th in Men’s Shotput, 2nd in Men’s Long Jump
  • Vanessa Nelson – 5th in Women’s 100m Hurdles, 6th in Women’s 200
  • Alice Cummings – 6th in Women’s Discus, 9th in Women’s 100m, 7th in Women’s 200
  • Kaitlynn McDonald – 8th in Women’s Shotput
  • Ariana Lusk- 7th in Women’s 100m
  • Men’s Varsity Relay team, which included Cameron Johnson, Benjamyn Bradley, Noah McLaughlin, and Nick Roland, got 3rd place overall.

Coach Denise Alvarez reflected on the season by explaining that “the Track and Field team is a young team with some great potential. It took a bit of time for us to get prepared for the season, but once we got started we did very well. I enjoyed sharing the team with Coach Benjamin Regonini.”
