OAKHURST — Steve’s Pet Shop is on the move again. It’s not that owners Steve and Kristin Bateman are wild about moving, it’s just that they’ve outgrown their current space… again.

“We’ll be moving into the old Grocery Discount Center Building at 49333 Road 426,” says Kristin.

“Simply put, we’re out of space in our current building. We’ve pushed through all the walls we can and we’ve filled up our space in just a couple years.”

The new space is almost twice as big, Kristin says.

“The store will be better organized, easier to shop, and will soon be stocked with fun things like a larger small animal selection and reptile selection, as well.”

The Batemans are super excited for the new set-up.

“The rent is very reasonable and the location couldn’t be more perfect. Plus my six-year-old goes to the Mariposa Martial Arts Dojo just down the sidewalk!”

Don’t worry, fans, it’s the same old crew you’ve come to know and love. Now, they’re just more accessible.

” One big difference is that we will be opening on Mondays once we are there.” So that means, Monday through Saturday, just not this coming Monday when they’ll be preparing to reopen.

Here’s the scoop: Steve’s Pet Shop will close at their Highway 41 location on Friday, Oct. 14 and reopen at the new location on Road 426 on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

“On a side note,” Kristin can’t resist adding, “Our customers are the best! I’d guess about seventy-five percent of them have offered to help with the move in one way or another by offering their help, their trailers, their time, and more. This community is such a blessing to us!”
