Stavast Returns To Gallery Row Post-Stroke

Submitted by Jenny Castillo

OAKHURST – During a recent visit to Gallery Row, you may have seen that for the first time in 20 years Stavast Studio Gallery was not open as usual. After a lifetime of good health, local artist Stephen Stavast has had some significant life changes recently.

At the end of February, Stavast was hospitalized for an aortic aneurysm rupture which required surgery. During surgery he also suffered a stroke which has greatly impacted his vision and subsequent ability to paint in his well know, finely detailed form.

The artist has spent the last three months recovering, with the assistance of friends and family.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, Stavast Studio Gallery will once again be open for visitors from noon to 4 p.m. As health allows, Stavast will be in the Gallery during these transitional hours.

The public is invited to stop in to view the Rock and Water oil paintings and limited edition giclee prints of the world renowned realist, Stephen Stavast.

For any additional information or questions please call Stavast Studio Gallery at (559) 683-0611. The Gallery is located at 40982 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
