Cousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings – brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and it’s many fine sponsors – continues on into the summer, presenting Soul Galaxy on Saturday, July 4th.

On Friday, July 3, The Mariposa Symphony Orchestra will present “An Independence Day Spectacular” at the Mariposa County Amphitheater, so there will be no Mariposa Evenings concert at the Art Park.

Soul Galaxy has, over the last two years, performed as a sextet, quintet, quartet and trio, but always with the same nucleus of Northern California guitar phenom Tim Hagar and Los Angeles session percussionist Jon Kidd.

This special 4th of July performance will be as a powerful trio, including master musician, Kyle Morrison on bass. The music will range from acoustic based, ethereal baroque rock, to energized electric blues and jazz, that will include Hagar’s Hendrix-style rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” just for the occasion. All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Highway 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa. There is free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.

The Mariposa County Arts Council, sponsor of Cousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings, is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The MARIPOSA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL, INC. is an incorporated not-for- profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
