OAKHURST — Ladies and gentlemen, get your beans in order. It’s time for the Gold Country Chili Cook Off, sponsored by the local Soroptimist service club, dedicated to helping women and girls in the immediate area and around the world.
The sweet and spicy event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Oakhurst Community Center, from 5 to 9 p.m.
A $20 donation to the cause buys one soda, one raffle ticket, all you can eat Soroptimist famous chili, hot dogs, Frito chili boats, cornbread and cookies made by the Soroptimist ladies. Many choices of toppings for your chili are also included.
Kid’s meals are $5 for ages 10 and under; age 3 and under are free.
Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase, and guests will have a great time tasting chili while listening to live music by Slide Creek, and supporting the effort of the service club.
It will be a night of good food, beer from the South Gate Brewing Company, plus wine, raffle and fun. Bring the family!
Local restaurants, chefs and groups will compete for this year’s title of Best Chili in the community and you will be the judge as it is a people’s choice award.
Purchase your ticket before they are sold out from Soroptimist members, at Oakhurst Giftworks or Oakhurst Grill before Friday morning, Nov. 9, or online 24/7 at https://chilicookoff2018.eventbrite.com. Tickets will be available at the door if they are still available.
