Master Gardeners Spill The Dirt In Free Soil Workshop

MADERA – At the heart of good gardening is good soil, and anyone who wants to know more about what that means is invited to attend a Free Soils Workshop for Home Gardeners, hosted by Madera County Master Gardener Sandy Hallam.

The Workshop is set for Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at Madera Community College Center, 30277 Avenue 12 – Room 3A in Madera. Free parking will be available in Lot C near the Three Sisters Demonstration Garden.

Master Gardener Workshop on Soil Feb 2015Sandy will go over soil basics and teach the audience how to understand “the soil you’ve got and how to get the soil you want.” Those in attendance will learn how to evaluate their landscape soil, as well as when and how to amend the soil. The Master Gardeners assure the public that “your plants will thank you” as a result of participation in the workshop.

Master Gardener volunteers are trained by the University of California Cooperative Extension and are committed to helping people. The Madera Master Gardeners have contributed more than 27,000 hours of community service in Madera County.
