SIERRA FOOTHILLS – The Mariposa County Dispatch Center and local fire departments have been fielding hundreds of calls about smoke in the mountain area.
There are no smoke-producing fires currently in the area. The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following statement:
“Due to a shift in the wind patterns, the smoke you are seeing / smelling today is from the King Fire located in El Dorado County. The Mariposa County Dispatch center has fielded well over 100 calls inquiring about the smoke. If you see flames or a column of smoke please call 911.”
