Smokey Bear Run/Walk Returns To Bass Lake, Register Now

BASS LAKE – The Mountain Area Runners would like to invite all runners and walkers to join in the celebration of the 31st Smokey Bear Run/Walk at beautiful Bass Lake, Calif., on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Race day features all types of activities for everyone’s fitness level. There is a 2-mile walk, a 2-mile run, a 10K run (6.2 mi.), and races for kids.

For serious runners, the Smokey Bear Run/Walk is a 30-point “Valley Runner of the Year Series” race.

This year’s proceeds will benefit Cal Fire and the United States Forest Service (USFS) Fire Prevention Programs and Madera County Sheriff volunteer programs.

The Smokey Bear Run organizers also hold a raffle at the race to help raise funds for fire prevention. Items include two Disneyland tickets, a lifetime membership to Sun Mountain Gun Club, gift certificates and much more.

If you register before Sept. 21, you will receive a discount on race fees and will be automatically entered into the Disneyland Ticket raffle. Race day price is $40, and $10 for the children’s races.

Registration forms can be completed online by visiting www.smokeybearrun.com or at the race from 6:45 – 7:35 a.m.

Races will take place at Recreation Point, 39900 Road 222 on the south shore of Bass Lake.

Road 222 will be closed to all vehicles at 7:15 a.m. on the day of the race, and will reopen at 9:40 a.m.
