BASS LAKE — The 32nd annual Smokey Bear Run/Walk rocked Bass Lake Saturday morning (Sept. 21), drawing hundreds of participants and spectators to the popular fundraising event.
This year’s program included a 10K run and two-mile run/walk for adults and children as well as 1/2-, 1/4- and 1/8-mile races for children ages 2 to 12.

Clancy’s Run, the first race of the day, was held in honor of Clancy Aiden Shea, a local boy who passed away from cerebral palsy in 2014, just two days shy of his 11th birthday.
Proceeds from this year’s Smokey Bear Run/Walk will benefit a number of area first-responders, including Cal Fire and USFS Fire Prevention Programs, Madera County Search & Rescue, Madera County Sheriff Explorer’s Post 104 and also the Yosemite High School (YHS) Cross Country team.
