Small Town Hoedown Kickin Up Its Heels

MARIPOSA–Tap your toes, cut a rug, or relax on the grass with a frosty margarita or ice-cold beer at the Mariposa Friends of the Fairgrounds Foundation’s second annual Small Town Hoedown.

This family-friendly event will surround the Amigo Stage on the grounds of the Mariposa County Fairgrounds. It will feature live music, adult beverages including tasty margaritas, cold beer, chilled wine and a bundle of raffle prizes. When the dinner bell rings there’s a choice of tempting barbecued chicken or juicy tri-tip with all the fixings.  Also, hot dogs, chips and a drink for the youngsters.

The inflation-buster price per person is 25 percent lower than last year at just $30 per adult, and children under the age of 12 are free. Only 300 tickets are available. Tickets are available at the fairground’s office or online at www.mariposafof.com.

Raffle

This year’s raffle prizes are fantastic. There’s an 8,000-watt Generac generator from Coast Hardware Do-It-Best Hardware. Chase’s Foothill Petroleum is kicking in a $500 cash prize, and Foster Ace Hardware has stepped to the plate with a 10 x 10 custom pergola, a high-end air fryer, and an electric power tool. These raffle items represent a total retail value of over $3,000. Raffle tickets are just $5 each or five for $20. Everyone can get in on the action during the dessert auction of delectable treats. Plus, there’s a special dedicated play area just for the youngsters.

Music

Live music will feature the multi-talented sounds of Dustin Heer from the Bay Area, and the crowd-pleasing tunes of the Crooked Drones, plus the highly entertaining and unique musical offerings of The Williams (Amy and Larry). There will also be music from DJ Nick Lambert in between performances, plus, a dedicated “happy hour” from 4 to 5 p.m. with discounted adult beverages at three tickets for just $10.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. No coolers will be permitted.

The Mariposa County Fairgrounds is located at 5007 Highway 49 South in Mariposa.
