NORTH FORK – A driver who says he fell asleep at the wheel escaped without serious injuries in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Road 200 this morning.
Just before 9 a.m., a Cal Fire engine on its way to assist Fresno County with a structure fire reported an overturned vehicle just south of the Finegold Creek bridge.
When CHP arrived at the scene, they found a BMW 325i upside down on the west shoulder of the road, and the driver seemingly uninjured but a bit dazed.
The 33-year-old Fresno man told officers he fell asleep while driving north on Road 200. The car then crossed the southbound lane, crashed into the rock embankment on the west side of the road and overturned.
Sierra Ambulance personnel responded to evaluate the driver, but he refused any assistance.
The roadway remained open, and the accident remains under investigation.
