SkyLife Lands On Road 221 For Medical Emergency

NORTH FORK – Emergency personnel responded to reports of bicyclist struck by a vehicle on Road 221 this morning near Bass Fork Minit Market.

The call came in at 8:45 a.m., and upon arriving at scene, Cal Fire Engine 4255 and Madera County Station 11 firefighters found a man who had apparently suffered some sort of medical episode while riding his bike, and was lying beside the road, unresponsive.

A passerby had begun CPR until firefighters arrived just minutes later. The firefighters from the Rancheria Station continued CPR and were able to revive the man. Sierra Ambulance personnel prepared the patient for transport, as SkyLife air ambulance set down in the middle of Road 221 just north of Road 200.

Road 221 was closed in both directions for about 15 minutes as the helicopter landed and the the patient was readied for transport to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The subject was not struck by a vehicle, according to CHP, and his identity and condition are not known at this time.
