OAKHURST – An accident involving a pickup rolling over in the ditch near the Oakhurst Lutheran Church slowed traffic this afternoon for about an hour on Road 426.
Joanne Hodgeman, 56, of Oakhurst was eastbound on Road 426 just after noon on Saturday, Nov. 1, when her 2004 Toyota pickup skidded on the rain soaked roadway.
The driver lost control of the truck, according to CHP, who said she was traveling at a speed that was unsafe for the wet conditions. The pickup then slid across the westbound lane and went off into the ditch, causing it to roll over.
The driver suffered some cuts and scrapes, but was conscious as Sierra Ambulance personnel prepared her for transport to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
Madera County Fire Engine 12 and Cal Fire Engine 4254 responded, and one-way traffic control was put in place as the scene was cleared.
