Single Vehicle Crash On Road 415

COARSEGOLD – A single vehicle accident shut down Road 415 for over an hour this evening after a Coarsegold resident rolled his pickup on the sharp corner near Sesame St.

At about 5:30 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 26, Emmette Davidson, 76, was headed home westbound on Road 415, when he came into a curve too fast, hit the bank on the right side of the road, careened back across the eastbound lane, and rolled down the embankment, according to CHP.

His 2003 Toyota Tundra came to rest some 40 feet down off the roadway, and the staging of emergency responders in the area caused traffic to be stopped for nearly an hour as the driver was evaluated by Sierra Ambulance personnel and the scene was cleared.

Toyota Tundra at Road 415 and Sesame StreetCal Fire Engine #8 from Coarsegold and Madera County Fire Department Squad #10 from Yosemite Lakes Park responded to the scene, along with three CHP units.

A SkyLife air ambulance was dispatched and set down at the landing zone at Chukchansi Casino as Sierra Ambulance prepared Davidson for transport. He was flown to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, remaining alert and stable, though precautions were taken due to his age and the severity of the accident.

Traffic was allowed through one lane at a time as Doc’s Towing pulled the Toyota back up onto the roadway.
