Sierra Vista Scenic Byway Tour Focuses On Geology

SIERRA NATIONAL FOREST — “Tabletops to Domes” will be the focus of a guided tour along the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway on Saturday, July 30.

Join geologist Tom Burdette in an informative tour and discussion of the geology of the Sierra Nevada as observed along the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, sharing the amazing events that have led to the present day glorious Sierra Nevada landscape.

Everyone will meet at Spring Valley School at 9 a.m., and the tour will start near Fine Gold Creek, will include great views of the volcanic mesas and then move up the Byway for views of domes, volcanism and more, ending at Mile High Vista.

“It’s guaranteed you will leave with new appreciation about the geologic history of our area,” say organizers.

Some easy hiking is possible. Please bring a lunch and water.

Spring Valley School is located at 46655 Road 200 in O’Neals.
