Sheriff’s Local Crime Log Through Sept. 25

MADERA COUNTY – Following are details from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of reports taken locally from Monday, Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept 25, 2016:

Bass Lake boating under the influence
On Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. the solo operator of a personal watercraft was observed jumping wakes while following a pontoon boat and making circular, “doughnut” maneuvers on the lake, and not operating his vessel in a counter-clockwise direction. An enforcement stop was conducted, and the operator of the watercraft showed signs of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were administered and the subject was arrested for boating under the influence.

Coarsegold traffic warrant
On Monday, Sept. 19 at 12:14 p.m. a deputy conducted a self-initiated traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a male driver for an outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrant. Male was cited and released on scene. Case closed by arrest.

Oakhurst missing person
On Monday, Sept. 19 at 1:41 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a call for service at the Oakhurst substation regarding a missing persons report. Report taken, case entered into the system and forwarded to the Madera County Sheriff’s detectives unit for follow up.

Oakhurst assault
On Monday, Sept. 19 at 3:42 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 40000 block of SR-41 regarding a assault. A report was taken and the case was closed due to the victim refusing to file charges.

Coarsegold fraud
On Monday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a phone report of a fraud. The reporting party, who lives in the 39000 block of Lilley Mountain Drive, advised that her boyfriend received a call from a female who advised that she worked for the IRS. After speaking with the victim, he informed me that the female threatened to arrest him if he did not pay $8,500 to the IRS immediately. At that time, the victim went to the bank and transferred the money to a Wells Fargo account. The case is still under investigation.

Oakhurst middle school incident
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8:55 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation regarding an incident that had occurred a week ago at Oak Creek Intermediate School. A report was taken and the case is to be closed.

Oakhurst student cell phone suspicions
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9:26 a.m. a teacher turned over to the School Resource Deputy a cell phone which a Madera County Office of Education student had at school. The class is at the 50000 Block of Road 427. The cell phone had a low battery and was password protected. Investigation started due to the circumstances of how the student got the phone.

Coarsegold identity theft
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9:59 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to a call for service via phone regarding an identity theft and mail theft which occurred in the vicinity of Skyline Ridge Court and SR-41. A report was taken, evidence was obtained and the case was forwarded to the Madera County Sheriff’s detectives unit for review.

North Fork child welfare check
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 1:17 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a remote area in regards to a welfare check on a family. The subjects were contacted and a report was taken for documentation. This case is to be forwarded to the Madera County Department of Child Welfare Services.

Ahwahnee danger to self
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 3:41 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 41000 block of Road 600 regarding a suicidal subject. who was then taken by ambulance to Madera Community Hospital for a mental health evaluation. Case to be closed.

Oakhurst theft
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 6:11 a deputy was dispatched to a business located within the 40000 block of CA-49 regarding a report of a theft. This case has been suspended, pending investigative leads.

Oakhurst arrest
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 6:56 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 40000 block of Hwy 49 regarding a report of a male and female looking into cars in the parking lot. Report taken, evidence obtained, arrest made, and case closed by arrest.

Coarsegold IRS scam
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. a school employee reported to the School Resource Deputy numerous IRS phone scam calls to her cell phone. The phone number was blocked and the reporting party also called the IRS to complain about the calls. The residence is in the 36000 Block of Mudge Ranch Road.

Oakhurst trespassing
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 8:22 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 40300 block of Junction Drive in regards to squatting. A report was generated and a male subject was cited. Forward the case to the Madera County DA for charges.

Coarsegold harassing texts
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 11:05 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 47000 block of Hopi Avenue in regards to a report of harassing text messages. The victim was contacted by telephone at his request and his statement was obtained. This report shall be forwarded to Commander Ward for review.

Oakhurst identity theft
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 1:36 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation regarding a report of identity theft . A report was taken and an identity theft packet was completed. Case closed.

Oakhurst missing firearm
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 1:09 p.m. deputies responded to the area of the 43000 block of Country Club Drive for a missing firearm report. A report was taken and is still being investigated.

Coarsegold intoxication
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 46000 block of Lucky Lane regarding a report of an intoxicated female possibly involved in a domestic fight with her spouse. During the investigation the spouse denied the female had assaulted him and he had no visible signs of injury. The surveillance recording of the altercation did not record the altercation clearly. The female was contacted and refused to comply with deputy’s directions. She was detained and placed in the rear seat of the marked patrol vehicle. She had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and slurred speech. The female refused to identify herself and had no identification on her. She was placed into custody for public intoxication. Her identification was found on the road and she was transported to the Madera County Jail. This case has been forwarded to the Madera County DA’s office for the filing of related charge.

Bass Lake coroner’s report
On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 6:35 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a campsite near Minarets Pack Station regarding a coroners case. Forward case to Deputy Chief Coroner for follow-up.

Oakhurst family complaint
On Thursday, Sept. 22 a deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation regarding a subject who wanted to report that her boyfriend has a child, 6, with another woman. Report taken for documentation. Refer report closed.

Oakhurst theft
On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10:27 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the block of 45000 Ca-49 regarding theft of a Samsung Tablet from a shopping cart in the parking lot at Vons. The victim requested a report for documentation. Refer report closed.

North Fork lost firearms
On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 1:01 p.m. a ddeputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation regarding a male reporting a lost firearm. A report was written, there are no leads and this case it to be closed.

North Fork runaway juvenile
On Thursday, Sept. 22 1:42 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to contact a local high school regarding a student who left campus. A report was taken and the juvenile was entered into the system. Suspend the case.

Oakhurst school disturbance
On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. a female student reported to the School Resource Deputy possible bullying by male students during class. The school is located at the 50000 block of Road 427. The deputy talked to the reporting student and the incidents were follow-up by the Assistant Principal.

Oakhurst report of violation
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 8:53 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation in regards to a violation of a domestic violence restraining order. A report was taken. At this time no crime has been committed. A report was taken for documentation purposes. Close the case.

Oakhurst narcotics on campus
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 9:30 a.m. a Madera County Juvenile Probation Officer contacted the Yosemite Unified School Resource Deputy regarding possible narcotics violations information he obtained about students on campus. A deputy was requested to do some follow-up on the information and forward the report to him due to one of involved subjects being on probation. The campus is located at the 50000 block of Road 427.

Campground disturbance
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 4:47 a.m. deputies were dispatched to Lake Ediza, Inyo National Forest, for a subject causing trouble and threatening hikers and campers. Deputies were transported to Ediza Lake by CHP H40 (helicopter) to the lake, where the two deputies contacted the subject and other hikers and campers. Subject was asked to leave the area, which he did.

Coarsegold lost cash voucher
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 12:12 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the block of 46000 Lucky Lane regarding a subject who had dropped her cash voucher and someone else picked it up and cashed it. The victim requested a report and possible charges. Refer report closed until the casino provides additional information or the suspect can be identified.

Coarsegold assault
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 1:15 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 42000 block of Ranger Circle Drive in regards to an assault. A report was taken and an emergency protection order was granted and served. Close the case at the request of the victim.

O’Neals narcotics
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 12:51 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a residence regarding a subject on a motorcycle who had driven up to a residence waiving a gun. Deputies responded to the residence. A subject was on scene and provided information that there was another subject in the residence with a firearm. There were marijuana plants on the property. The scene was turned over to detectives. Refer to detectives for follow up, forward a copy to Fresno County Probation and forward a copy to the D.A’s office for charges filed.

Ahwahnee danger to self
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 4:23 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 43000 block of Road 628 in regards to a mental health call. A hold was placed and the patient was transported to the hospital for treatment. Close the case.

Oakhurst burglary
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 5:10 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 49000 block of Laurel Drive regarding a burglary. A report was taken. No evidence was collected. Close the case.

Coarsegold intoxicated juvenile
On Friday, Sept. 23 at 8:21 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 42000 block of Titan Court to investigate a report of a possibly intoxicated juvenile. Upon arrival, the juvenile was found to be under the influence of alcohol and prescription medication, in violation of the terms and conditions of his probation. The juvenile was booked at the Madera County Juvenile Hall on a probation violation after being medically cleared at
the Madera Community Hospital.

Oakhurst restraining order violation
On Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8:33 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to a confidential location regarding a female suspect who was restrained from the victim’s residence. The female had threatened the victim and was kicking at the front door. She was arrested and transported to Madera Department of Corrections where she was booked. Requesting this report be forwarded to the D.A’s office for charges filed.

Oakhurst bus accident
On Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11:18 p.m. a deputy to the 2800 block of Fresno Street, in regards to a report of a coroner’s case, which resulted from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. The accident occurred in the Oakhurst area of Madera County, but the decedent passed away at a Fresno County hospital. The decedent’s remains were transported to the Merced County Coroner’s Office. A report was written and forwarded to the Chief Deputy Coroner, for review.

North Fork public intoxication
On Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11:06 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 57000 block of Road 225 regarding the report of an intoxicated subject. Durning the investigation a male was arrested and booked at for public intoxication. Case report was written and filed with the District Atorrney’s office for prosecution.

Ahwahnee domestic violence
On Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8:39 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 41900 block of CA-49 regarding a domestic fight. A subject was arrested and taken to jail. Case to go to the District Attorney’s Office. for charges.
Case to be closed.

Oakhurst danger to self
On Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3:32 p.m. a deputy wasdispatched to the 37000 block of Wortham Road regarding a suicidal subject who was contacted and taken to Madera Community Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Case to be closed.

Coarsegold coroner’s report
On Sunday, Sept. 25 at 11:31 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a residence located within the 42700 block of Ranger Circle Drive regarding a report of a possible unattended death. This case has been forwarded to the Sheriff’s Detective Coroner’s Division for review and/or follow up investigation.
