Sheriff’s Crime Log Week of July 27

MADERA COUNTY – Following are details from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of reports taken locally during the week of Monday, July 27 through Sunday, Aug 2, 2015.

Bass Lake Burglary
A deputy responded to a radio call on Monday, July 27 at 7:38 a.m., arriving at the 54000 block of Road 432 for report of a commercial burglary. An investigation was conducted and no arrests were made; a report was written and the case was forwarded to mountain detectives for follow-up.

Oakhurst Tools Found
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 7:54 a.m. to the 49000 block of Pierce Place regarding some found tools. The property was recovered and booked into safekeeping; the case is closed.

Bass Lake Burglary
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 11:20 a.m. to a house in the 39000 block of Paha regarding a broken window and possible burglary to a vacation rental house. A burglary was confirmed and a report was taken; authorities say it was unknown precisely what is missing at the time and the case is suspended.

Bass Lake Report for Las Vegas PD
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 12:21 p.m. to the Pines Resort to conduct a courtesy report for the Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD), Nevada. The report was taken and forwarded to LVPD. The case is closed.

Coarsegold Lewd Acts With Child
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 1:40 p.m. following a call originating from Child Protective Services regarding lewd acts with a child that occurred several years earlier, at the 45000 block of Spring Trail in Coarsegold. An initial investigation was conducted and a report was written. Report forwarded to valley detectives for follow up.

Oakhurst Burglary
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 4:14 p.m. to a business located within the 40400 block of CA-41 regarding a report of a burglary. This case has been suspended, pending investigative leads.

Oakhurst Forgery
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 4:26 p.m. to the 40000 block of Highway 49 regarding a subject trying to pass a counterfeit check. The subject departed the premises prior to deputies’ arrival. A report was written and the investigation continues with the case going to detectives for follow-up.

Coarsegold Suspicious Package
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 4:30 p.m. to a residence located within the 47900 block of Road 417 regarding the resident having received a suspicious package from China through the mail. During the investigation it was determined the package had no hazardous material. This case has been closed.

Oakhurst Sex Crime
A deputy was dispatched on Monday, July 27 at 8:51 p.m. in Oakhurst to take a report of a sex crime. No further information is available at this time.

Bass Lake Warrant
On Monday, July 27 a deputy contacted a male subject operating a wave runner on Bass Lake for suspected theft. The subject was identified and arrested on an out-of-county warrant and booked at the Department of Corrections.

Oakhurst Weapons
MADNET agents served a search warrant on Tuesday, July 28 at 11:16 a.m. in the 53000 Block of Hidden Meadow Road, regarding a marijuana transportation investigation. During the search, agents recovered a firearm which had been reported stolen to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office in 1987. The firearm was booked into evidence at the MADNET office and subsequently transferred to the Sheriff’s Office evidence.

Oakhurst Residential Theft
A deputy was dispatched on Tuesday, July 28 at 12:49 p.m. to telephone a male regarding a report of a theft from a residence located within the 52000 block of Pettit Road. This case has been suspended, pending investigative leads.

Bass Lake Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Tuesday, July 28 at 5:39 p.m. to the 39000 block of Paha regarding a verbal disturbance. The reporting party then wanted to report being hit the day before by her landlord; the case is suspended at this time.

Coarsegold Child Custody Dispute
A deputy was dispatched on Tuesday, July 28 at 6:07 p.m. to the 29000 block of Jim Bowie Court regarding child custody issues. An investigation concluded that a report was requested for documentation purposes.

Coarsegold Motorcycle Pursuit
A deputy initiated a vehicle stop on a black motorcycle on Wednesday, July 29 at 2:45 a.m. in the area of northbound CA-41 and Veater Ranch Road. The rider of motorcycle failed to yield and was pursued eastbound on Veater Ranch Road onto the dirt. The pursuit was terminated due to the nature of the crime; the motorcycle was located without the rider and towed.

Oakhurst Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Wednesday, July 29 at 7:41 a.m. to the 40000 block of CA-41, in regards to a domestic disturbance that occurred in the area. An investigation was then launched and a crime was found to have been committed. The case is to be forwarded to the Madera County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

North Fork Burglary
A deputy responded on Wednesday, July 29 at 9:07 a.m. to the 33000 block of Road 222 for a burglary that occurred sometime between 2013 and 2015. An investigation was conducted and a report was written. The case was closed due to lack of evidence and investigative leads.

North Fork Person In Distress
A deputy was dispatched on Wednesday, July 29 at 2:04 p.m. to a residence located within the 53000 block of Ridge Top Drive, regarding a report of a possible suicidal male. During the investigation a 5150 Welfare and Institutions hold was placed on an adult male who was then transported to a hospital via ambulance. This case has been closed.

Oakhurst Felony Vandalism
A deputy was dispatched on Wednesday, July 29 at 7:33 p.m. to the 40000 Block of Westwood Way regarding a possible domestic violence call. An investigation concluded there was a verbal argument between a male and female. Felony vandalism charges will be filed with the Madera County District Attorney’s Office against the male subject.

Oakhurst Theft
A deputy was dispatched on Thursday, July 30 at 9:04 a.m. to the 40000 block of CA-41 regarding theft of items from a store. The subject was located and later returned the items. The owner of the business requested no charges filed; the report is closed.

Oakhurst Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Thursday, July 30 at 10:31 a.m. to the block of 40000 CA-41 regarding a domestic incident that occurred early that morning. The victim advised the deputy that his girlfriend had scratched and bitten him, leaving a visible injury. She was arrested and taken to the Department of Corrections where she was booked. Refer to the D.A’s office for charges filed.

Coarsegold Residential Burglary
A deputy was dispatched on Thursday, July 30 at 12:57 p.m. to a residence in the 31000 block of Kennedy Drive, in regards to a residential burglary. The scene was processed for physical evidence; no arrests were made. The case report was written and sent to the detective division for further investigation.

Bass Lake Theft
A deputy was dispatched on Thursday, July 30 at 4:38 p.m. to 39000 Road 222 regarding theft of paddle boards from the shoreline of Bass Lake. The victim requested a report for documentation. The report was closed until further leads develop.

Ahwahnee Delayed Coroner’s Case
Thursday, July 30, 4:54 p.m. SO reporting a delayed Coroner’s case with the primary physician stipulating to the decedent’s cause of death. This is a natural death case involving only a Coroner’s referral number.

North Fork Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Thursday, July 30 at 8:47 p.m. to the 57000 block of Road 225 for an assault. A report written and the case closed due to the victim not pursuing charges.

Oakhurst Beer Theft
Deputies were flagged down on Thursday, July 30 at 11:27 p.m. regarding a theft of beer that occurred within the 40000 blk of CA-41. Deputies canvassed the area and located a male subject matching the description. The male subject was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections for the theft.

Ahwahnee Assault with Firearm
Deputies were dispatched on Thursday, July 30 at 11:37 p.m. to the 42000 block of Ca-49 for a report of an assault with a firearm. Deputies contacted the involved parties and eventually arrested a male subject for the negligent discharge of his firearm. The male subject was transported to the Department of Corrections.

Oakhurst Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Friday, July 31 at 6:23 a.m. to a business in Oakhurst to take a report of an assault which took place on Highway 41 in Oakhurst earlier that day. The victim was taken to the hospital and charges are pending.

North Fork Theft
A deputy was dispatched on Friday, July 31 at 10:35 a.m. to the 32000 block of Fast Lane regarding items of jewelry stolen from a residence. The victim advised that three rings and one watch were stolen from her bedroom. The case was referred to detectives for follow up.

Oakhurst Landlord Tenant Dispute
Deputies responded on Friday, July 31 at 1:08 p.m. to the area of the 41100 block of Highway 49 for a landlord tenant dispute. Due to the on-going issues a general incident report was taken.

Oakhurst Vandalism
A deputy was dispatched on Friday, July 31 at 1:20 p.m. to the 50000 block of Road 423 regarding vandalism to a vehicle. The victim claimed her daughter may have been involved. However, there was no evidence or proof to substantiate the claim; the report was suspended until further leads develop.

Coarsegold Aggravated Assault
Deputies responded on Friday, July 31 at 6:52 p.m. to the area of Meadow Ridge Road and CA-41 for a report of a male being assaulted by three unknown individuals. The victim was found inside a store and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The case will be sent to the detective division.

Oakhurst Juvenile Reported
A deputy was dispatched on Friday, July 31 at 10:11 p.m. to a the 49000 block on Pierce Road in Oakhurst, regarding a report of an out of control juvenile. A report was written and the case forwarded to detectives for follow-up.

Oakhurst Burglary
A deputy was dispatched on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11:03 a.m. to the 41000 block of CA-49 regarding an attempted burglary of a residence. The suspect forced open the back door but did not take anything, according to the caretaker. The report was closed.

Bass Lake Theft
A deputy responded on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. to reports of the theft of fishing equipment from a docked and open boat.

Coarsegold Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11:58 p.m. to the 28000 block of Yosemite Springs Parkway regarding a domestic assault. Dispatch advised the male suspect had a rifle and was going to kill himself and deputies if they arrived at his house. A report written, evidence was gathered, and the suspect was taken into custody with charges forwarded to the Madera County District Attorney’s office.

Bass Lake Vandalism
A deputy was dispatched on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 8:09 a.m. to the 54000 block of Road 432 in regards to a vandalism report. No suspect information or evidence was located. A report was taken for documentation and the case was closed.

Oakhurst Domestic Violence Violation
A deputy was dispatched to the 48000 block of Royal Oaks Drive in regards to a possible violation of a domestic violence restraining order. Upon arrival the suspect was located and arrested for the violation. The case was forwarded for prosecution.

North Fork Firearm Found
A deputy was working the Willow Fire detail on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. when he was advised by the incident commander that pieces of a firearm were found during the fire clearing. The firearm pieces were collected and booked into property.

Coarsegold Assault
A deputy was dispatched on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 4:50 p.m. to an address within the 35700 block of CA-41, regarding a report of an assault. During the investigation it was determined that no assault occurred. However, the incident was documented in the case investigation. The case has been closed.

Oakhurst Repeated Trespassing
A deputy was dispatched on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 8:52 p.m. to a restaurant located within the 40100 block of CA-41, regarding a homeless male trespassing at the business. During the investigation the male was told by the deputy to leave and not return that evening. The male returned and was placed into custody for trespassing. This case has been forwarded to the DA’s Office for the filing of a related charge.
