See History Through The Eyes Of A Child

MARIPOSA — Have you ever told a child about something from the past and watched as their eyes lit up with wonder and excitement? It’s a feeling hard to describe, and one anyone can experience.

The Mariposa Museum and History Center invites members of the community to become volunteer tour guides for their upcoming 5th grade field trips; no experience is necessary and they will gladly train anyone interested. The tours will take place from Oct. 4 through Dec. 14 on Thursdays and Fridays. The museum currently has 14 tours planned for this time. These tours are hosted both in the morning and in the afternoon, between 9:30-2:30, and volunteers are welcome to be a tour guide for either, or both, shifts.

These tour groups will be going through the Mariposa Museum and History Center, including the original Gazette building, the Blacksmith shop, and the inside exhibits, as well as participating in gold panning, like a true miner.

The Museum’s regular 4th grade field trips are also in need of more great tour guides, and these field trips will be held throughout the 2018-2019 school year, approximately September-May.

Organizers say a tour is only as great as the guide who leads it, and they encourage volunteers to take part in an experience that will allow you to feel the excitement the children feel, as they take a trip back in time.
