Search Continues In Yosemite For Missing Oakhurst Man

YOSEMITE — Searchers in Yosemite National Park continue to try to locate an Oakhurst man who was lost in the Merced River on Monday.

A group of people from the Oakhurst area were floating down the Merced River in their own private rafts on Monday afternoon when a 60-year-old man got separated from the group.

According to Park spokesman Scott Gediman, the man’s raft deflated and he was not wearing a life jacket. He was last seen around the Sentinel Beach area at about 6 p.m. on Monday, June 6.

Searchers attempted to locate the man throughout Monday night, and all day Tuesday, with no results. Search efforts continue today.

Mariposa County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue is assisting Park Service personnel in the search efforts.

We are not releasing the name of the missing man at this time out of respect for the family, pending the outcome of the search.
