School Seeks Garden Supplies As They Dig Into Earth Day

AHWAHNEE — Wasuma Elementary will be honoring Earth Day in the school garden on Friday, Apr. 26, and working with local Master Gardeners to accomplish some important spring tasks. Activities for the day include the creation of bowling ball art, worm-ology and composting, planting and “Tasting with Ooooby Farms.”

Want to help? It’s easy. Organizers are looking for donations of the following items by Friday, Apr. 12 — and many of these items are available right from your own tool shed or perhaps in your own back yard.

Gardening hand tools, rakes, shovels

5 gallon buckets

Planters (anything we can plant in!)

Spray paint, outdoor paint, rollers, brushes

Picnic benches, benches

Flowering plants

Fruit trees

Vegetable seedlings

Wood chips

Soil

Pavers, river rocks of any size

Gift cards to Home Depot, Tru Value, or Lowe’s

Cash donations
