OAKHURST – On Sat. Nov. 28th, 2020 at approximately 9:25 pm a 1998 Toyota Tacoma travelling westbound on Road 426, west of Meadow View Drive at a high rate of speed lost control after not being able to negotiate a curve in the road. The Toyota then overturned after going up an embankment and then slid down a second embankment.
The driver of the Toyota identified as 22 year old Oakhurst resident J. Mulkey suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mulkey was not wearing a seatbelt.
A passenger identified as 24 year old Oakhurst resident D. Wachsmuth sustained moderate injuries and was transported via SkyLife to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Wachsmuth was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The CHP is continuing the investigation into the possibility of alcohol impairment.
