Santa Cruz Bands Debut At Music On The Green

MARIPOSA – The next weekend of the free Summer Concert Series at The Art Park in historic downtown Mariposa features the debut of two young, up-and-coming Indie/Alt-Rock bands from Santa Cruz – Urban Theory on Friday, July 20, and Watch Me Breathe on Saturday, July 21.

Formed in 2011, Indie-Rock group Urban Theory’s members have known each other since elementary school, and have honed a energetic conviction in the performance of their original Alternative Rock songs influenced by Young The Giant, Coldplay, The Beach Boys, The Strokes, Queens of The Stone Age, and Beck.

They’ve performed at many venerable Santa Cruz venues including The Crepe Place and the historic concert club, The Catalyst. Visit this young vibrant group’s Facebook page for more.

Watch Me Breathe is a progressive pop-rock group that sprung up from what originally started as a self-produced solo project by singer/ songwriter/producer/ multi-instrumentalist Jake Ward.

The band was formed in 2017 and released their debut album “The Lighter Side of Darkness” earlier this year.

While you may hear Ward’s influences – Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls, Paramore, Switchfoot, John Mayer, Peter Gabriel, among others – in his original songs and in their performance, what’s readily apparent is a keen skill and maturity in his songwriting that belie his young age.

Go to Watch Me Breathe’s Facebook page or web-site to learn more about the band and its prodigious leader, Jake Ward.

Visit www.mariposaartscouncil.org for the complete 2018 season line-up and more.
